Q: I've been off my bipolar meds for 3 weeks now, and the pain in my body is getting worse. Is this normal?

I am 25 years old, and have been on bipolar meds for 2 years. I have gained 75lbs on the medication and have been trying to lose the weight but have had no luck. I decided to go off my meds so I can start to lose the weight so I can feel better about myself (which is part of the problem why I am so down all the time). There had been some pain when I went off my meds, but the pain has been becoming worse as the weeks go on. I am wondering if the pain is from me going off my meds? I can barely get up and walk now.

You are probaby having some withdraw symptoms. You did not say if you tapered off, or just quit cold turkey.  You can have some bad things like seizures (If you were on a seizure med,?) and things happen from stopping cold turkey. When you start a new medication they start you low and work up. If you go off you need to go down alittle at a time. Hope you start to feel better. I do understand how bad the med. weight gain makes one feel. So far I'v lost 60 pounds of mine and have more to go. I'd gain 78 lbs., But don't feel like I need to lose all of it any more. But now I do feel better about myself.
