Will Lithium, Abilify, and Prozac cause extra deep sleep cycle?

My daughter takes Lithium, Abilify, and Prozac for Bipolar Disorder. She is 14 yrs old and takes the meds twice a day(Lithium and Abilify). Can the combination of these 3 meds cause her to sleep extra soundly?

She sleeps 10 hours and day and still seems to need more. Her physician says she is not over medicated . She is still very moody and rapid cycles between mania and depression.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

no i dont think that is normal. when i was 14 i needed lots of sleep without meds and if she is still having the mood swings then the meds need to be changed or reviewed maybe try seroquel or valium to relax her as it can be dangerous to leave her alone in that frame of mind.try and get her doing things instead of sleeping as when you are depressed you don't want to do anything but sleep which is not good for your system anyway.im not an expert but i know what shes going through and its tough for everyone involved just try to get her to talk and be active maybe walking or drawing maybe but it sounds as tho shes very unstable and when i was "manic" i did very regrettable things and lost a lot of friends..hope she finds something to help her and all you can do is be there for her.Best of luck!

My psyciatrist over emphasized that I must take my Prozac (for depression) 12 hours before taking the Lamictal and Abilfy (mood stablizers)  Abilify will decrease the body's ability to eliminate Prozac which can cause sleepiness and other side effects.  If taken correctly at 12 hour intervals, like 10 AM / 10 PM, the medications are at the half life stages and compliment each other rather than conflict.  People often think side effects are from the medication itself, I think side effects can be caused by the time of day you take your medis, the time of the month, what you eat at the time you take the meds. and other things you don't take into account.  Talk to your pharmacist.  I get better info. from him on this kind of stuff then I do from my dr.

Good luck,
