Hi...
I am by no means an expert...but from what I have read, and from what BP people have told me is that when in the mania phase...you need the "high" or the excitement that a new lover can give you. Once they come down, chances are it will have been just a fling.
One girl told me that she would have flings and break hearts all the time, before she got some help and meds.
Hope that helps some...this could just be a rush he is feeling.
