Q: I have a 7yr old that keeps telling me that she wants too run away. I give her everything that she

wants/needs. The other day when I was driving her to school she said "mommy sometimes I feel like running away" I asked her why? And she said that she just feels like it. I also found a paper in her room and this is what it said I am going to run away forever if you... I couldnt figure out the rest because it was so close together and she is just starting to learn how to write sentences. Please tell me what I should do. I love my daughter and want the best for her. I really dont want her to have thoughts like that it hurts me to hear her say or write things like that. She knows I will always be here for her, and will never let anything hurt her.  Im a mother that is crying out for a helping hand What should I say to her please help. carrie_carrie95@yahoo.com Thank you

Hi, Carrie. By all means be concerned, but let's not jump to concusions. What you are describing - on it's own - is hardly depression or bipolar-related. Kids often express a desire to run away, which may be a healthy sign. But if in your gut you feel something could be wrong, please book an appointment with your daughter's teachers and school counselors, and everyone can then take it from there. Hope this helps -
