There are many other medications to treat bipolar depression. If he has been taking this for more than a month and he does not report any change in his depression and still has symptoms of suicidal ideation, then you might go to his appointment with him and demand the psychiatrist do something.
Is he on any other medications?
I take Abilify and I am still depressed, too. I'm talking to my PDoc on Tuesday about changing to another med. Abilify is expensive, too. I don't think it works very well.
I also take Lithium.
Your husband needs to talk to his Doc and see if he can't try something else. Not every med works for every BP person.
I went through several different meds before arriving at Lithium and Abilify, and will have to try something else again.
Good luck to you!
Hi, I was on Abilify for 2 years and it didn't help, I was then put on Geodon which is much better, I still get depressed but its milder and Im able to cope with it rationally. If I was you I would request from your doctor that he gets hospitablized for 3 days with Geodon injections morning and night and thereafter put on the Geodon capsules morning and night. It helped me so I really hope it helps your husband.
Regards
Hayley
