Q: Losing that feeling!

Hi all,

I am off to the doctor today (just my GP) to ask about sex drive and medication. I have, for a very long time, had no sex drive whatsoever. I am female and I guess it's kind of like impotence, there's just nothing there - diddley squat!

It's very frustrating, not only for my partner (who is an absolute gem and does not make me feel guilty - I do that well enough myself!), but for me. I am so sick of this and it's been going on for years.

It's not that I "don't want to", it's just there's no drive and no feeling and no enjoyment - I like being close and cuddling etc so it's not an "out of love" thing, just no physical drive.

Does anyone have any knowledge of treatment for this kind of issue on the off chance? I have heard about some creams and things, but was just wondering if anyone else had any successful treatment for the same issue.

I have spoken to my psychiatrist about this, but because it is not that I "don't want to" (I do!!!) it's not his field, there's no point in "talking about i" because it's not like I have issues around sex or intimacy - he said to speak to GP.

I knwo that the medications I have been on have played there naughty part as when I went off them all once I was fine in that deprtment (but not well mentally!).

The new medication regime i'm on has allowed me to really reconnect with my family and i'm not prepared to play around with that when i'm feeling so well, so am looking for alternatives :)

So, if any of you girls have any ideas, suggestions, comments - it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

N

Some antidepressants can cause that.  You might ask about changing your antidepressant.
