Q: Shal i continue my relationship with my boyfriend who has bipolar? his recent episode was abusive

my boyfriends suffers with bipolar, for the first few months there was nothing worrying me but then he had a manic episode after i had a miscarrage, this mad him very abusive. I haven't seen him for 5 weeks as i broke up with him but am now considering us getting back together as i do love him and he is lovely to me when he is normal. I am worried though as i have a young child and am concerned if this was to happen again around my son and i 'm not sure i can go through it again myself. He says it won't happen again but he won't take medication from the doctos and only takes herbal tablets. Please give me some advice and help me out. Gemma

being bipolar myself, if he dosen"t take his meds it WILL happen again. Think long and hard about this one very important decision. if he dosen't love himself enough to take care of himself can he love you that much? i would not say for you to do anything wither way. but only to dig deep inside yourself before you put you and your child in this volitile situation again. good luck!

he hasnt been prescribed any meds, the doctor said that if he can manage it then not to because of his career he insured for a lot of money and it may affect it,but he does take herbal medicines and meditates. He has bipolar type 2 and until this episode i witnessed no worrying signs at all. He is very talented and creative and is very loving and affectionate to both me and my son. He was not manic around my son, i stayed well away from him during this time and think i will only see him alone for now and learn more about bipolar before i decide to continue with the relationship officially. thanks for your advice :)
