A few months ago my doctor added topomax when I was taking depokote. It was a small amount of topomax- 50mg. But within weeks I was in the hospital after a suicide attempt. For no reason, I was not depressed. I have heard that depokote combined with topomax can increase suicidal thoughts.

49 year old professional woman with no history of mental illness....

I haven't been on the depokote/topomax(50 mg) combo, but I was on topomax(50 mg)/lamictal/risperdone/seroquel/welbutrin. My psychiatrist prescribed topomax and welbutrin because the other meds were causing major weight gain. After several months, he recently pulled me off the topomax because he said he doesn't like to prescribe it to bipolars because it tends to push them manic, esp in the springtime. We tried to get me off welbutrin for the same reason, but when I cut it to 1/2 (150 mg) I relapsed into (mild) depression. So I'm off the topomax and still on 300 mg of welbutrin. I hope this helps.
