Hi, Patricia. I hope other people will jump in here. It sounds like you literally inhale your food. In other words, you can make a bowl of peanuts disappear without even tasting the peanuts.
I picked this up from Buddhism: "When eating, JUST eat." Think of nothing else but the eating. Chew very slowly. Stay focussed on what is in your mouth. Nothing else. No conversation. No thinking about this or that. Just the food.
Once your mind is focussed, you may be able to catch yourself and control your impulses better.
Try it and see what happens.
We tend to look for the one simple solution. But real life demands applying lots of partial ones. This is a partial solution and may or may not apply to you. But it won't hurt to give it a go.
In the meantime, research other answers. If you decide to diet, set realistic and modest goals. Hope this helps -
