Within days, we can see that Generic is not working as well as Lamictal for my daughter.

I'm one of those people that has not found any generic drug to be effective for it's purpose.  I've been taking Lamictial for 5 years and the new generic form just came out. IT IS NOT CHEAP HERE.  I can only get a few at a time because of the cost.  I paid $26 for 5.  30 would have been $142 compared to $160 for Lamictal.  I have no insurance now so I guess until it's been out in the generic form for awhile until the cost goes down I'm either stuck with it or don't take it.  In my case, I have not found it to be as effective as the Lamictal.  I can feel the difference in maintaining my moods.

I switched to generic about 2 months ago and have noticed no changes.  I think it's worth giving a try.

I was on on Lamictal for 2 years in treatment of bipolar disorder before being asked by my doctor if I would want to try to switch to the generic because it would save me money. Within one month I was having wild mood swings, I fell behind in school, and I lost my best friend. That generic brand took a month away fro my stable life that I will never get back. I don't care how I have to pay for it but I will never get the generic brand again. I strongly recommend that if Lamictal is working for you to NOT switch.
