Q: I'm bipolar and am mostly stable on medication. My life is made possible through my medication. When I was confronted with the possibility that my "extra help" subsidy from Social Security could get

taken away due to an increase in income (husband got a raise), I panicked. I researched all available means of getting my meds and formulated a plan, which entails the help of pharma companies. During the time I searched, which took no more than 3 hours, my husband got VERY upset with me. He told me that because I "didn't care" about my job search (I'm trying to get off of SSDI) that he wouldn't assist me with my meds!!! Well, I couldn't stop crying. I was horrified that he would say that, knowing that I could commit suicide (like my dad did) if I didn't have my meds. Later he told me that he would help me, however only to the extent to which I help myself, and that I should look at his actions (which have always been helpful) and not go by what he says. So, I'm supposed to get out my crystal ball and figure out when to believe him and when he's either bluffing or just yelling out of anger over what he can't control? I feel helpless. He thinks this issue is a non-issue and that it's over. For me it's not. Does he really believe that I'm not trying? Would he really abandon me in my time of most desperate need? Your replies are very appreciated. Thank you!
