Q: my husband seems to be worst after therapy.. why?

my husband is bi-polar. after he sees a therapist his condition worsen.  after therapy he will come home totally depressed and filled with self pity, next he will come back happy and dancing everywhere, and next he will be agitated.  they all seem to hit him really bad on therapy days..why?

Sometimes therapy can bring up some painful emotions & memories & they linger after the session is over.  I often have a sense of elation when I feel like I have accomplished a lot & gained a lot of insight, but other times I have had to talk about very painful subjects so the mood will stay with me after the session.
