I think no matter where you live, this seems to be a problem. I live in New Jersey USA and when I came home from the hospital after 7 inpatient hospital stays in 16 months, my inpatient Dr was essentially my outpatient Dr also. So when it was time to find an outpatient Dr I found it hard  because after a referal I would research them and when I did call they were not taking new patients either. The other problem I had was that ALL of the mental health professionals, psychiatrists to therapists did not accept insurance. So to pay $200-300 to basically pick a Dr from a list and know nothing about them and pay them that amount of cash in ridiculous.    An option that I have chosen to use was to get involved with a clinical study in your area. It is usually at a university and I found out that Dr. Baldassano and the other Dr's I was trying to get an appointment with and couldn't because they were not accepting new patients because of continuing research at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia were the same Dr's I was trying to get. This has been a wonderful solution for me because they see you more frequently and when the study is over, they usually continue to see you as a follow up. I researched clinicaltrials.gov and found the studies. if that doesn't work, then try to contact your local hospital to see if they are affiliated with anyone for outpatient services. Good Luck !!!!
