Hi, Mary Jane--

It all depends on how much she took and whether it was one time only or repeatedly. Cymbalta has many side effects and those of an overdose would show up immediately. If she has been taking someone else's prescription at proper dosage over time, there may or may not be side effects, and it may or may not be effective.

In the latter case, a pertinent question is - why did she feel it was necessary to take the drug? Is she in fact depressed?

No matter what the case, this should be brought to a doctor's attention as soon as possible.

Hope this helps,

~Marcia
