Q: Why is cyclothymic disorder never talked about in depth?

There are tons of articles and books and information available for bipolar disorder. Bipolar I and II are mentioned abundantly, yet cyclothymic disorder usually only gets a few sentences, a paragraph. It is very distressing and demeaning for someone with this disorder as it feels like it is just brushed off and unimportant.

Angst, you're right. Cyclothymic disorder is a serious illness that needs to be given much more attention than it gets. Instead, people look at it as "mild bipolar disorder" - which is a crock.

In response to your question, I've written a SharePost focusing on cyclothymic disorder. It's a drop in the bucket to the amount of attention this illness should get, but I hope it will educate a whole lot of HealthCentral readers.
