how do you cope with bipolar spouse?
From the prospective of my husband (I'm bp), this is a joy ride. I am on the manic side of bp. This means I get in super high spots, he finds them entertaining. However, most of the time I am not manic. Medications keep me fairly level, but with hormone changes every month and live stuff he has found an outlet.
A neighborhood best friend makes the difference for him. He always has a refuge just right across the alley. Funny thing is, his bf is also bp. Hubbies bf is not on med's. And this person is also on the manic side of bp. He is up, up, up. Constantly on the move, and his mind races like no one I've ever met. Weird, heh?
Your spouse my benefit from a change of medication, either dosage or type of. I would like to suggest that you attend her next appointment with the psyc. As a spouse you are picking up on moods, attitudes and changes that your wife may not even notice. Make some notes (might be hormonal changes), or other important observations and help her out. Maybe it's a certain of day (med slump) etc.
Adapt a sense of humor and remember that she loves you, knows you are dealing with a bunch of junk from her, and she probably really appreciates that you do.
