Q: please help me to understand?

I know for a fact that the one I love who suffers from being bipolar. Sometimes when he is irritable he'll use inappropriate negative words that he doesn't usually use does that come with the disease? Also, he seems to be extremely mean to me when he's like that. Does that come with it too?

I would also look at your past relationships.  Have they been healthy relationships? If not you need to learn what it takes to have a relationship that is healthy.

I also would get to know and educate yourself for this diease.  It is NOT an EASY one to perdict.  People with BP have troubles through out their lifes with relationships.  So educate yourself...And another thing you need to look at...How does your love see himself with this diease?  That is another HUGE piece.

Unfortunately there is too many factors to consider to give you a straight answer.  Being negative can be a charatcer trait of bp as can being mean.  What you have to answer for yourself is - are you trying to justify bad behavior towards you because of the bp?  While we may at times treat people poorly having bp does not excuse bad behavior.  If I am rude or mean to someone I still have to own up to that.  If I am constantly negative I have to reverse my thinking.  Don't stay in an inappropriate relationship because someone treats you badly and blames the disease - whether it be bp or alcoholism or heart disease.
