Q: Just Curious what you guys think.

I hear alot of people saying they do things they are not supposed to because they are bi polar.  I am talking about really serious stuff. Like killing other people or physically abusing other people, things on that order.  I guess I am meaning illegal stuff.

I just want to know if you get upset when you hear them say they are bi polar and that is why they did what they did.

Does it make you angry?  It does me.  It seems to me that it puts a label on all of us.  When do you stop using the bi polar card and take responsibility for your own actions.

YES!!! Lori I agree with you 1000TH percent hahah. It frustrates me that people put more of a stigma which Bipolar people have to deal with...and then have criminals who aren't Bipolar use this as some excuse!! It's disgusting. It's hard to say what people with Bipolar really do. What I mean is like you said ..they use their illness as an excuse, or honestly they are really acting out these horrific crimes or treating others horribly because they truely are really sick and need more counseling, or different meds to stabalize them. I just wish people would be honest with their actions and quit using being Bipolar as an excuse when sometimes it isn't being Bipolar it's just them.    Great topic

It makes me mad. Even if people are bipolar, that does not give them a wild card to go kill or abuse anything.  We have a responsiblity to ourselves to control ourselves and take our medicine. This is not helping the stigma we bipolars already have.... I have heard at work.... " becareful - she is bipolar and you might set her off".

I am not a harmful person in anyway.... The stigma hurts us no matter even if you say it doesn't. Its not right that they are just using this as a scapegoat.
