Q: Bp2 and Aniexty nothing is working

My 14 yr daughter who is a diabetic type1 was diagnosed with bP2 with severe aniexty.  She has been on about 4 different medications and nothing is working.  She is currently on 50 mg of Lamictal.  She is very depressed and wants nothing to do with us.  She just cries and sleeps.  Her blood sugars are a consistent 200-300.  I know this is dangerous and have spoken to her doctor.  She wants to give up because she feels if nothing has worked in 4 months nothing will.  HELP mother in need to save her child.

Hi, Meme. Nothing breaks my heart more than a parent dealing with a child with this illness. I will confine myself to the Lamictal issue here, keeping in mind I'm not a doctor:

It sounds like your daughter is on a starting dose. Typically, it takes a number of weeks to build up to full strength, which means you need to allow time for the med to kick in. I suggest getting on the phone right away and asking your daughter's psychiatrist if this is the case.

Hope this helps, and please keep us posted ...
