Q: Is my boyfriend's memory loss from the BP or other health issues??

Yes, I'm BP and dating someone who also is. I know what many people are probably thinking.. that isn't the point though, lol. Ok.. he's 28, had to have open heart surgery a year ago and a month ago had to have a defibulator (sp?) put in due to him having blackouts and waking up not knowing what happened. It's very sad b/c he is so young.. it's a genetic thing. He actually blacked out Sunday morning at my house and my mom found him passed out on the bathroom floor. We had to call 911 and I've been at the hospital since then. They think it might be epileptic seizures and gave him medicine for it. They also told him to drink lots of water b/c they think he gets too dehydrated. The point of all this is.. a lot of times when he gets mad or when we argue, he might say stuff.. which I am learning not to take personal.. but later on he won't remember any of it. Sometimes he won't remember whole days. I'm constantly reminding him things I've told him or telling him "yea, you told me about that." I know I read about memory loss and BP being related but I didn't think it would be that bad!

I couldn't tell you anything absolute.  My partner's memory has gotten much worse, he especially forgets anything that he finds stressful.  He has never blacked out, but he does start nodding off while we are talking, if it's about something stressful.  Hope that gives you some help.  You may want to speak to a specialist about it, or his doctor if you are able to and he won't do it himself.  It is always hard to know what is and wasn't isn't part of the illness.  I wish it was easier to know myself.

Best wishes
