Is there a diet that can help bipolar children?
Is there a diet that can help bipolar children?
Now keep in mind, this is only my opinion, but "no".
There are diets that help us feel better, do better, look better, see better, taste better, throw harder, jump higher, run faster, etc. So there might be an anscilary effect that appears as if an improvement, and it might actually resemble improvement if some of the symptoms decrease. But then, what is bipolar if not the symptoms? (I ask myself) If it weren't for the symptoms, we wouldn't even know we were bipolar. If we eliminated the memory problems, rapid cycling, hyperactivity, rapid speech, blues, suicidal thoughts, mindless blatherings (like this), plus a host of others, we wouldn't appear sick, ergo we wouldn't be sick. However, I guess you can say that about most illness. However, a heart attack, for instance, needs no symptoms to cause problems. For the most part bipolar without symptoms = good mental health. So if we could teach our body to mask the symptoms, instead of trying to find a cure for the illness, we would, technically, be cured.
I apologize for ranting on your dime, but sometimes it just gotta' come out. It's amazing that great problems can be solved when manic, only to have the solution drift away later on. I once sat down and created a simple formula that explained everything in the universe. It made perfect, logical sense and was universal in application. I looked at it yesterday, and I couldn't understand it at all. (Maybe I'll be able to tonight.)
Anyway, Ms. Woodcock, diet will certainly help with overall health, but I don't think it will effect the bipolar disorder. Sorry.
Blessings and salutations,

i dont know exactly what diet is good for children with bipolar, but i know diet is very important as well as routine and rest. try googling it, or ask your doc. when i eat well, grains, veggies, fruits to some extent, lean chicken- i feel better, when my life is getting chaotic- i start eating processed, easy to grab food- and my mood reflects that all is not well. it is so good that you ask, if my parents would have known i was a child with bipolar maybe things would not have been so rough, i applaud your interest in seeking the answers, best of luck to you.
