There is a proverb that says "A wise man sees danger and runs from it, but a fool goes on and suffers for it." If he's your boyfriend, not your husband, WALK (OR RUN) AWAY FROM THE RELATIONSHIP AND DON'T LOOK BACK!!!!! I didn't know my husband was bipolar until we'd been married about 6-7 years, and I was pregnant with our third child.  He wouldn't acknowledge the problem until about 5 years ago. (We're marking 25 years of marriage this year.)  He's had 12 jobs in 25 years--fired from 2 for manic episodes, fired from 2 for depressive episodes, and quit or laid off of the rest...It has gotten worse over time.  I wouldn't voluntarily choose to suffer such a life of upheaval and insecurity. Feel compassion for the guy, but don't settle for the misery his illness would doom you to.
