Q: Bipolar and Paranoia are they connected?

Hi my name is Kim and I was diagnosed with Bipolar about a year and half ago, and I'm still trying to find a doctor who I feel comfortable with and who will listen.  I have so many questions, but don't know where to get the answers.  Its hard to talk to my spouse because he really doesn't understand.  I feel like hes always hiding things from me, and he always tells me that I make things up..  I consume myself with this and I was wondering if paronia is connected with bipolar?  I'm only taking Zoloft right now and know that I need more.  If you have any suggestions please give me some advise it would really be appreciated.

Hi there.  Sorry to hear you are going through this crap.  I would think that your doctor would also have you on some sort of mood stabilizer if you are bipolar.  I take lamictal and I don't have any side effects from it.  I was on lithium but it made me very clutzy, and I kept falling and getting hurt.  Before I went on the lamictal, I had a couple of hallucinations--that had never happened to me before.  Once I was on the lamictal, they went away.  It really freaked me out.  I'm not totally well, but I feel the mood stabilizer does help.  Now it's mostly sadness, depression for me.  I'm hoping the summer will help.  Hope this helps you a little.  Good luck,Cool
