Bipolar and Aspberger's?

Does anyone have any experience with a connection between bipolar disorder and Aspberger's syndrome? Our family counselor has suggested that my 13-y.o. bipolar son may have some of the autism spectrum as well, due to his social awareness issues and other things that are hard to pin down.

Scary but exciting times.

He's learning to drive. Since our personalities kind of clash at times and because I'm such a nervous wreck, I turned this instruction over to his dad. It's been a good bonding experience for them.
