Study: Pregnant women at risk when they stop bipolar meds

Women with bipolar disorder who stop taking medications that control the condition before or shortly after becoming pregnant are much more likely to suffer a recurrence of the disorder, a new study suggests. In the study, 85 percent of women who stopped mood-stabilizing meds prior to their pregnancy or in the first weeks experienced symptoms of bipolar disorder.
