A medication currently used to treat breast cancer may one day be used to ease mania symptoms associated with bipolar disorder. Researchers gave the breast cancer drug tamoxifen to both men and women with bipolar disorder. After three weeks, the patients who took the breast cancer drug experienced a significant lessening in their mania symptoms compared to those taking a placebo.
