Study: Lithium in drinking water curbs suicides

New research in Japan suggests that putting lithium in drinking water curbs the risk of suicide. In a new study, researchers examined levels of lithium in drinking water and suicide rates in the prefecture of Oita, an area of Japan that has a population of more than one million people. They found that the suicide rate was significantly lower in areas that had the highest levels of the element lithium in the drinking water.
