Troubled teens at risk for adult mental health problems

New research published in the British Medical Journal suggests that teens who have behavioral problems are more likely to suffer from mental or personal problems as adults. For the study, researchers looked at health data on 3,500 people that began when the people were in their teens and followed them for 40 years. Investigators found that teens who displayed such problematic behaviors as disobedience, lying, truancy, or poor response to discipline were more likely to have problems maintaining long-term social relationships. This appeared to have a negative effect on the people's later mental health.  Read full story >
