Symbyax approved for treatment-resistant depression

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Symbyax for use in patients with treatment-resistant depression, drugmaker Eli Lilly is reporting. Symbyax combines two medications, the antipsychotic Zyprexa and the antidepressant Prozac. According to its maker, Symbyax is the first drug approved by the FDA for the acute treatment of treatment-resistant depression, which involves two failed attempts with other antidepressants.
