Borderline personality disorder often misread: experts

According to experts, borderline personality disorder is a poorly understood yet common mood disorder that is often misread by the friends and family of sufferers. One borderline patient describes the disorder as being characterized by pervasive sense of emptiness, problems with impulse control, transient stress-induced psychosis, and frequent suicidal thoughts and behaviors. But to others, people with the disorder appear to have thin emotional "skins," throwing tantrums when they perceive a slight in another person's words or actions. But once this emotional storm passes, the borderline can return to being sweet and reasonable.
