Latina teens prone to suicide

Statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found that one in every seven Latina teens attempts suicide in what experts call "an alarming rate." Researchers say that the typical Latina teen who attempts suicide is 14 or 15 years old, lives in a low-income setting, and is the daughter of immigrant parents. She is also often caught in an intense battle with her mother over Latino and American cultures because mothers hold tightly to Latino values and young girls growing up in America try to embrace American values.
