Feds fund at-home monitor for bipolar sufferers

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has given a grant to a medical technology company to develop an at-home monitor for bipolar patients who take the mood stabilizer lithium. According to a press release from ADA Technologies, the NIMH gave the company $189,886 for the device, which will be designed to provide reliable home monitoring of blood levels of the drug. Company officials say this will allow bipolar patients to conveniently and effectively manage the condition.  Read full story >
