Antidepressants Less Effective in Depression with Psychotic-Like Symptoms

Patients who suffer from psychotic-like symptoms along with depression are less likely to respond to treatment with antidepressants, new research has found. Psychotic-like symptoms include such things as hearing voices or believing others are plotting against the depressed person. But scientists also found that people with bipolar disorder do not appear to be less likely to respond to antidepressants, a finding that challenges the theory that people with treatment-resistant depression actually suffer from undiagnosed bipolar disorder.  Read full story >
