Radiation was finished on Friday, the 30th. Im on Tamoxifen. About the rads, went well all in all, with slight fatigue. No burns, just a major tan on one side. I used Aloe Vera gel and that seemed to work. The only thing I have at the moment is joint pain. Does anyone have this after Taxol or chemo?

No more zaps and bzzz..bzzz..for the time being, so I guess not going to the hospital everyday will take a little time to get used to. I wont miss the Oncology signs at all. Kinda tired of that routine, but Ill be going to follow-ups every few months...

I didnt think this day could come soon enough-but it has. Thanks for your support and Ill keep you posted on me. Thanks!!!

Hi Tina,

Great to hear from you, especially that treatment is DONE for you -- wonderful! Relax, revel in the fact that you made it through, pamper yourself in ridiculous ways -- you SO deserve it.

Hi Tina: Unfortunately, pretty significant joint pain is a well-known side effect of Taxol. Hopefully it just lasts a short time, but it MAY continue beyond that. Ibuprofen, taken at fairly high doses, usually helps with this. Ask your doctor how much to take. Good luck! And congrats for finishing - YOU DID IT! - PJ

Hi Tina

Congratulations on completing the journey. I'v ebeen through the long months of 8 chemos & had my 20th radiation today. 1o more rads to go. The only downslide is that my axillae(excuse the spelling) are also receiving radiation as the only 7 nodes that were removed during mastectomy were positive. As this hospital did not perform the op,they aren't taking any risks.This may result in a swollen arm that will require the attention of a physiotherapist. Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed & doing my exercises. Yes, Taxol does cause significant joint pain & considerable hands & feet tingling but all these gradually wear off. My joint pain is much better & I hope the tingling will become better as time goes by.I'm hoping that the medium tan on my radiation side doesn't get any worse.It's quite fine at the moment. I hope soon to be over & done with the treatment.Cheers once again for you!

I go for my final chemo tomorrow morning YEAH!!!!!!!!!! I did 4 treatments of AC/ and then 4 of taxotere. With the taxotere I have been having severe joint pains, stabbing pains in legs and hard to walk - I also get a Neulasta injection the day after chemo and joint pain is also a side effect of that. At first I tired to walk it off - thought maybe walking around and not laying around would help - NOT. Anyway, I told my oncologist about it and he suggested an over the counter pain reliever, etc. You should call your doctor and see what he advises.

After a brief reprieve from treatment, I start 6 weeks of radiation. I guess I should tan on the other side so they will match, eh! Awesome that you have completed your treatment!

Hi Tina!

Congradulation on beginning a new chapter....I wish you health and much releif and relaxation. I had severe pain while taking Taxol, sharp pains all over my body. Since completing my chemo those have stopped but I have had severe aches and pains in all of my joints. I'm getting conflicting answers from my docs. One says it's left over Taxol side affects, one says it's because I'm in menopause and one says it's probably arthritis brought on by the menopause. At any rate, I'm being tested for the arthritis and taking tylenol, which only helps a little. I'm hoping it goes away soon, for both of us!

Congrats on your final appointment. I am to start radiation in a week and have read about lotions, etc for possible skin burn. Please tell me what Aloe Vera you used. Did you use the plant gel itself or is there a particular product sold that has a higher content of aloe especially for radiation patients.

Again, congrats on your road to recovery.

Hi Nancy,

I used the 100 percent Aloe Vera clear gel in a tube--pure, no alcohol made by fruit of the earth, but there are many brands available, your local pharmacy or hospital will most likely be able to recommend one. Best of luck to you.
