I had my routine mammogram in Feb. 2008, found a "spot" that needed to be checked with compression mamo and ultrasound. My Dr call back and said that I needed to see a surgeon, who she sent me to.  He ordered a steriotactic biopsy and 10 days after that I got the news that I had breast cancer i...

    Hello Gail,

Welcome to our community -- we're glad to have you join us. Thank you for sharing your story. It surely has been a long and involved year for you, but you talk about it quite calmly and with a positive sense in your "voice" -- that's great. Best of luck on November 20th. Be sure to let us know how it goes.

    Best,

    Maria

    Thank You so much.

I saw Dr Yoak today and he drew a picture of the nipple on my breast to show me and my husband what it would look like and about where it will be located.  He is making a tiny flap with "wings" on each side that wrap around the flap and closed with sutures and the blood supply stays intact. Then in Dec 19th  he will do the tattoing.  He made me feel a lot more at ease after he talked to me today. Smile

So, did you ever think you could tell your friends you were getting a tattoo? Wink

I had mine done with just a local anesthetic and it was completely painless; didn't even hurt afterwards. After everything you've been through, this last piece is... a piece of cake! Good luck going forward- PJH

Well, I have had permanent makeup done 3 years ago, and even though I was numbed, it still hurt some, but it did not last long and I love the results !!

In March I am going to be a great grand mother so now my grand-kids can say " Won-ta see Granny's tattoo ? Then I can "flash " them and have them all faint , HAWinkHa !!
