I had this procedure done Dec. 4, along with Breast Needle Locate lumpectomy. Pain is manageable, however I have turned blue/black colour beyond center of other breast and almost to colar bone above both breasts.  Also blue/black colour has now spread from naval to just around side/back and down...

    Hi Scugogjean,

I had very bad bruising after my biopsy as well.  In fact, it was worse bruising than after the masectomy!! They didn't warn me about it either!  So probably isn't a reaction but I still recommend that you call the doctor tomorrow just to make sure.

The biopsy on my opposite side is still kinda blue-ish.  Much worse than the mastectomy side.  Still, call your doctor, swing by and let him reassure us all that it's okay.

    Take care,

I, too, had node biopsy in late November.  I also bruised severely - from top of breast all the way to my pubic area.  It has faded quite a bit but did take a couple of weeks.  The bruising looked horrible but it has not caused any problems.  At first, it startled me but after follow-up visit with my surgeon, was confident that it would clear up soon.  It should be back to normal in the next week.  Hope this helps you.

Thank you for your replies.  On day 8 after surgery bruising stopped spreading - it has now started to fade, however fading faster in breast area than in groin.  Dr. was surprised at amount of bruising and suggested I just give it some more time. Breast is still very swollen and hard - fluid build up that should  start being absorbed into body soon.  I hope so! I'm usually 115 pounds.  Other than that I'm coming along fine.  All this made me think of my Grandmother ( a nurse) Anytime in my life I've had surgery my reactions always seem to reach the extreme - She'd have said - "Oh you redheads" Bless her
