Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Marching

By miaa Sunday, July 05, 2009

Hello, Folks...My grandmother had one of the first radical mastectomies, in 1937. in Des Moines, by a doctor who studied with the Mayo brothers, in Rochester Minnesota. He removed her left breast. She never had a recurrence, and lived to be 66 years old. She passed away from unrelated illness.

I am so pleased to see that we are making great progress in medicine, especially breast cancer.

The battle needs to continue..and needs to get BIGGER...We do not need a sluggish atmosphere of poverty that our government wants to give us for health care..!

We are ALL worth something...We are not trash to be disposed of..NONE of us..!

Knockers up, Girls..and heads up...We have a lot to win..and we can.. and we WILL..! Lets get together and talk it out...!

Right on! Good for your grandmother, for being a pioneer. And good for you, for your spirit and attitude. Thanks for connecting here - PJH

P.J...Not ONLY was my grandmother a pioneer..she was also not in tune with standing aside so the younger people could get what she needed, instead of her..None of that baloney..! She was the child of parents whose ancestors came on the Mayflower, as Puritams,..and one was the first constable (policeman) in the United States. as well as many other early patriots. AMERICANISM runs in my blood..DEEP...So..no one can B.S. ME..I learned early what an American thinks and DOES...I may be forced to die..BUT I WILL DIE AN AMERICAN..."Shoot, if you will, this old gray head..But..Spare your country's flag..!!!" I oppoes your stand on healthcare limits. get your facts straight. We have Billionaire Clubs...they are going to reduce the population....WHAT ABSURDITY..! Et tu, Brute.....?

As I mentioned before, one of our great American freedoms is the freedom to disagree agreeably. There's not a human alive who knows the absolute right solution to any challenge. We all just have informed opinions - you yours, me mine. I refuse to be drawn into anger and negative emotions of any kind. Thus, understand if I don't answer any comments I feel come from a place where I don't choose to engage. PJH

That's okay..In fact, I think it's very good. I do not know where in the Constitution of the U.S. it says that we have the right to agree to disagree. I think that is a device...However, I believe that we all know right from wrong...and there is a right and wrong in this matter of the new American Health Care Program...and no..not two differing rights, and two differing wrongs...ONE of each. Compromise would require discussion..a lot of it...So, Dr., one of us will pay a price for our poor judgement, that is too high. We DO all know the ultimate right solution...and that solution is LIFE...for all...and we all know what that means...  Vaya Con Dios...

You may want to google this for more information..but it sounds like a great new beginning for a new technique to me..!

It is called photodynamic imaging or PDT.

The initial clinical tests will be done this year, led by Mo Keshtgar at the Royal Free Hospital in London, England...

I believe this will bring VERY good news..!

Photodynamic therapy..or PDT...The initial clinical trials will be held this year, led by Mo Keshtgar at the Royal Free Hospital in London, England...

This promises to be a whole new successful and less invasive form of treatment. You may want to google this in order to learn more.....Hugs...

For more informaiton, see the National Cancer Institute's fact sheet on PDT. While it's not FDA-approved for treatment of breast cancer, research continues... PJH
