Saturday, May 09, 2009 at 10:38 AMHi there - yes the expanders are annoying in that they are painful at first. It's been since the 15th and i'm just starting to be able to sleep comfortably. I still have the drains in too. I just had another surgery to remove more tissue on Wednesday - - it was under the armpit area so it's a little uncomfortable. I think things will work out okay after this last surgery. I've changed my diet so much and given up all caffeine - -maybe this is a blessing in disguise (i hate to say) but it made me look at things a bit differently for my life and make changes if i wanted to wart off any other diseases in my body. Since most of my bc was related to hormones - i've got to get a handle on them and i'm trying with foods. I'm keeping a positive attitude about my recovery and have finally decided to go out on short term at work - - i couldn't work from home typing on a computer all day. Too much pain for the arms. How are you doing? Angela

Saturday, May 09, 2009 at 11:30 PMHello Angela,
My kids came down from MS to VA to spend Mother's Day with me. It was great to see them but scary at the same time because I still haven't told them all that is going on with me, they are great. We had a busy day and it wore me out but I had to spend time with them. My drains came out on Wednesday and I am sleeping a little better on my back still with two/three pillows. I am doing the exercise and they seem to be loosening up my arm pit area. Sorry about the second surgery. My biggest problem known is trying to find some more bras. the Navy issued me two for free but I do not know where I can purchase more. Good luck and keep in contact. Nice to have someone who is in the same stage that I am in that I can/we can get information from and give to. Take care and God bless.

HI - did they give a book of exercises for the arm tingling and falling asleep or pains. You should be raising your arms over your head for 45 min a day while laying down and some others. Also - relax it's only been a week - did you get the tissue expanders put in when you have the mastectomy or did you not getthat done?
