I've been away from this site for a while. Life has been a bit hectic. My cancer treatment has had some ups and downs. In March, my Taxotere chemo dosage was reduced to 75% because the side effects were getting to be too much. In April on Easter Sunday, my central line catheter (CVC) decided to swell up, turn red and become sore. My hopes of a quick trip to the ER turned out to be 3 days and nights. The CVC had become infected and needed to be removed.

Shortly afterwards and before my next chemo treatment, I had a PICC line inserted. That worked well until I had an allergic/burn reaction to chlorhexidine. That meant over two weeks of daily trips to the hospital for dry dressing. Today I no longer have issues with the PICC line as we are using benadine instead.

My last CT scan showed mixed results with one tumour growing a tiny bit and others shrinking.

Mentally all these issues have been draining but with the reduced dosage of Taxotere, I'm now starting to feel stronger with each cycle. My body is enjoying the reduced chemo as well.

That is a quick recap of the last few months.

All the best,

Daria

I'm sorry to hear that you have been having so many challenges with your treatment.  Still, it certainly is encouraging to hear that most of your tumors are shrinking.  I hope that all the glitches have been worked out and that everything proceeds more smoothly from here on out.

Daria - It takes strength and perseverance to get through cancer treatment, for sure. Good for you, for exhibiting both. Remember, every step you take is one step closer to the end of the tunnel. So set your sights on a spot on the horizon, and walk towards it every day. Some days you'll barely make progress, but that's OK. You WILL get through this. Thanks for staying on touch - PJH
