I know that this is a message that may not need to be emphasized on this website but I still have to say it.

I came across this great website (http://www.breastcancer.org/) which has a step by step diagram on how to do it.  I also was watching Lynne Doyle on CN8 (she did the Boston Breast Cancer 3 Day).  One of the guests mentioned that the shower-check may not be the best way, especially if you have larger breasts.  You need to lie down so that your breasts flatten out a bit....it's a bit more accurate.

Also, it's important to check underneath your breasts as well as around your armpits.
