They say it is over. All I need is a nipple. Are they over rated? Breast cancer was my second cancer. I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 95. I knew that a second cancer was possible. When.... always When? I was not shocked when the phone call came. The hard part was the call the day after my breast MRI. "We want more test". I knew what that meant. I had cancer again. Core Biosopy.... results on Monday. I was in the car and the call came DCIS. I thought what does that mean? I asked and the doctor kindly explained. Now, the round of Dr. appointments, telling friends and family, so it begins. I have done it before, I know what is coming the pain, the fear, the tears, and the love.

This time it was different, mediation seemed to help me. Trying to remember the women from around the world without medical access helped too. How did I meditate? Sitting with my back straight, I just listened, just listened to the sounds I heard near and far. Sometimes I tried to feel a breeze or the temp of the air around me. Othertimes, I just listened to my breathing, trying to find the moment where my in breath became an out breath. I never had to do it for long, but I did need to quiet my mind. So many thoughts, fears, and physical pain. I needed to escape. Mediation helped me.
