Hi...Remember me? I started with my first chemo on Oct 22 & was glad to get over the fear of the unknown. It certainly wasn't a piece of cake but apart from the first seven days of feeling quesy & miserable, the rest of the days were fairly ok.My hair started falling out after 2 weeks with just a few strands left.My first 4 chemos were AC.From the 5th chemo onwards I'm getting Taxol. My 6th chemo is on Feb 21 & then two more to go followed by a break & radiotherapy. All I want to say at this stage is that chemo is something one can bear & as advised here at this site I have to take one step at a time. One can't shorten the cure period so one has to put up with it patiently.I take care of my food intake,my skin, hygiene etc.with a single-minded devotion.

I shall keep you all posted on my progress by which I hope others to benefit as much as I have from the support I got from this wonderful site.

Hello Cressida,

Great to hear from you again. It sounds like you're making your way through treatment as best you can, and that's all that's expected of you. Your "single-minded devotion" of focusing on taking care of YOU is perfect -- you're a smart woman.

Be sure to write again soon and keep us posted on your progress. We're always here for you.

Best of luck,

Maria

  Hello Maria,

Thank you for your support and warm welcome on my return to the site. I've missed it. I hope that by the end of my tretment I can safely say I am a survivor, thereby holding out hope to others.

  Till the next chemo,

  Cressida

Keep up the great work! I know you're over the hump now... I think taxol should be "eaiser" than AC, aside from the tingling hands/feet, which I heard can be bothersome. Really, excellent job staying positive - it's not always easy (it's not usually easy - it's never easy?), but it's beneficient for sure. Take care- PJH

I can never cease to be grateful to this site. Thanks ever so much for these wonderful words of encouragement. Now I can face the remaining three taxol chemos with a calmer mind. When I was taking my fourth and last dose of AC,I asked the attending nurse what taxol would be like to which she replied that if I'd taken AC pretty well,I'd surely do better on taxol. After my first dose I felt only a slight tingling in my fingers and hardly any joint pain.I felt less nauseous too and have a better appetite.I guess with so much encouragement,I'll go through the remaining three taxol chemos more easily.Big Smile

To you and all the wonderful people on this site I'd like to send this quote..."When I find myself fading, I close my eyes and realize my friends are my energy."

Lovely thoughts, Cressida. Here's another for you: "Friend, our closeness is this: anywhere you put your foot, feel me in the firmness under you." - PJH

Now I have another beautiful quote to add to my notebook.Thank you!

Oh yes!My sister came over from UK,and among other gifts, brought two beautiful pink ribbon brooches for me.I hope to be the proud wearer of these when I've recovered fully.Of course,I shall remember to wear one brooch at a time.Big Grin
