Are there alternatives to radiation treatment for a 65 year old woman who has recurrent breast cancer? She has already had surgery and is taking Arimidex (sp?). She cannot lie flat on the table due to arthritis and back problems. Her attempt to get through the first treatment resulted in a pinched nerve in her spine followed by nearly 24 hours of severe pain and then 3 days of numbness to her legs and right arm (the left chest wall is what is supposed to be getting treated). So far her medical oncologist has not responded to our questions regarding alternatives.
