I am now, as of this last May, a 5 year survivor. I am taking Arimidex until January '09.  Dr Rao told me she would be more comfortable with me starting a new medication at that time.

In 2004, my husband was diagnosed with cancer of the stomach.  I was told by our gastroenterologist that this was usually fatal!  Prognosis was NOT good.  I went to my oncologist and asked her to take him as a patient.  She said she was not up on what the current treatment was for this type of cancer.  But that she would make some calls.  On our next visit, she told us what she had found out.  He was to start chemo along with radiation therapy together.  From her wisdom, and his surgery, he is now also a survivor...  3 years and still no sign of recurrance for him...and 5+ years for me!!!
