best bra for lumpectomy

By Sandy Saturday, October 17, 2009

I'm thinking of having a lumpectomy, and would like to purchase several bras in advance.

My right bra (the one with cancer) is already smaller than the left one.  So, with the lumpectomy it is more obvious.

I'm wearing right now a sports bra, because I just had the biopsi done.  Any suggestions for this as well.  Should I stick to use sports bras?  My problem always has been that I have small breast and they ride up in the front.

Sandy, if you're small-breasted, I'd stick with the sports bra; it'll certainly be the most comfortable. Your other option would be a padded bra, which would smooth out any "divots" left by the lumpectomy. Readers, anyone else have some advice for Sandy? PJH

Yes. This is an issue.

I have been wearing the "Champion" sports bra, available at stylish, Target. They have a racer back and this helps for ride-up.

All my other gorgeous padded bras, I just can't stand to wear, they are so uncomfortable now!

Go for the work-out bras with the racer back (t-back), they really help me.
