Sunday, November 01, 2009 at 12:18 PMPlease stay in touch here, Rachel - we can help you through this challenge. As Phyllis, says, bone mets are often very treatable. Once she gets stabilized and the treatment starts to kick in, I'm hoping the pain will abate considerably. In the mantime - if you have access to Skype, it's a wonderful way to stay in touch with loved ones when you're far away. Good luck - PJH

Hello, Spain!

Wednesday, November 04, 2009 at 01:43 AMRachel,
I am so sorry that your mom is in pain. I can imagine what shock you are in and being so far away even though it is a beautiful place, your thoughts must be with your mom constantly.
Is there any way you can come home even for a moment? Sounds like you are doing something very important in school there, and I know, as a Grad it is not easy to drop things and go. But do not feel guilty about that. This all happened so fast.
I am thinking of you and of your mom and hoping she is not in pain and with the best care! What city is she in?
Keep in touch and let us know how you are feeling and how your mom is doing.
Love, Peg.

I'm sure it is really hard to be so far away while your mother is going through this. It may be comforting to you to know that if one has to have breast cancer metastasis, bones metastasis often responds well to treatment. I hope that proves to be the case for your mother.
