Is DCIS hereditary?

My mom was diagnosed with DCIS in her 50's. I know that a family history of breast cancer ups your risk for developing the disease, but I've heard that DCIS acts differently. Does anyone know whether having a family history of DCIS is the same as having a family history of breast cancer?
