Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Early Cancer detection - is it possible without an expensive Doctors visit?

By KeithB Wednesday, November 10, 2010

I am a 43 year-old male, live close to a military base where they do lots of chemical testing and warfare testing & I am concerned about whether or not any type of cancer is in my future. I am looking for websites that deal with early cancer detection and possible at home testing that may be available, so I do not have to go to a doctors office as that is very expensive. Besides  moving away, are there any thoughts or ideas on websites or products?

Thanks!

Keith, if anyone knew what caused cancer, or how to predict it, we'd be well on the way to curing it. Your best bet is to just continue your online research, plugging in the words "cancer" or "carcinogen" with the specific chemicals and conditions you feel you've been exposed to. There's no at-home or easy way to detect most cancers in their earliest stages; you have to feel a lump, or feel sick in some way, then go through diagnostic screening at a hospital or health center. So, I'm sorry, but I guess we can't really help you... PJH
