Just Diagnosed with Cancer? Chat with Experts

Requested copy of pathology report, got an abbreviated one today.

Since all I had for pathology interpretation was a biopsy, I assume that explains the lack of info on this pathology report. The addendum was not included with the hormone and HER-2 info. The only information that I can see is under "Diagnosis"...which says, "infiltrating ductal carcinoma, Nottingham score 2/3".

Now, since the lymph nodes seem NOT to factor into the score at this time, as there is no mention of involvement, can someone tell me just what this means? Is this indicating a "low" or "intermediate" tumor, and do you add the 2+3 for a score of 5 or what?

This is pretty bloomin' (skarff) confusing, folks!  Can someone interpret the "2/3" for me?

Thanks

Yup. 2/3 means you're a 2 out of 3 - right in the middle, where many of us reside. 1's better, 3's worse. When you get your complete pathology report, be sure to read it in conjunction with our guide, OK? Good luck - PJH
