This is just an odditity...and I'm beginning to think that if it is strange, it will happen to me--but I wanted to share it so that if others see this show up then they might not be put into a panic mode. In 1994, I had a lumpectomy. In 1998 I had a stage IV recurrence and a mastectomy. In 2010 it came back with multiple bone lesions...so after finishing chemo on July 1, I've been in high alert.
Two weeks ago, I took off my bra and prosthesis and discovered that one of the areas of scar tissue was red and angry and there was a blister, like a burn blister filled with clear fluid, at the center of the angry mass. I gently touched it and it popped... I put anti-bacterial creme on it and got myself into the oncologists as soon as possible.
He noted that it looked like it was a disolvable suture (stitch) that my body thought was a foreign object and walled it off. It has taken this long (either a suture from my original surgery or 1998, we're not sure as my breast is mass of scars from both surgeries) to work to the surface.
Of course, if you see anything strange, ALWAYS get yourself to a doctor and if possible, in the area of a cancer situation, go to your oncologist (my GPs office has a bunch of people who are very laksadaisical when it comes to cancer/chemo side effects). However, don't immediately think it is something awful. :)
